Talcum Powder Warning

In two recent cases very substantial verdicts have been returned by juries against Johnson and Johnson for women who suffered ovarian cancer as a result of using powder containing talcum (talc). Talc is a soft mineral (magnesium silicate) with a soapy feel.  Scientific studies since the 1970s prove a link between feminine hygienic use of talcum powder and certain types of ovarian cancer and fallopian tube cancer. It is believed that talc fibers migrate into the ovaries, embed deep into the ovarian tissue, and cause a chronic (long term) inflammatory response. More than twenty scientific studies show an increased risk of ovarian cancer as a result of talc use. The products that are most suspect are Johnson’s Baby Powder and Valeant Pharmaceutical’s Shower to Shower. Shower to Shower is now a Johnson and Johnson product.
