Mickey Mouse is an Imposter

My grandchildren, ages 4 and 6, are crazy about Mickey Mouse and many, many other Disney characters and movies.  I can’t begin to count the number of Disney characters and movies my grandchildren own.  They also want me to go to Disneyland, which I admit I was not really excited about until Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick called for a boycott of Disney.  Patrick’s call for a boycott is in response to Disney’s opposition to Florida’s recently passed “Don’t Say Gay” law.  According to the likes of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (who is positioning himself to run for President) Dan Patrick, Marjorie Taylor Greene and others on this bandwagon, Disney intends to indoctrinate children regarding sexual orientation and sexual education.  Patrick said, “People must see what has been going on behind the Mickey curtain.  I know your kids and grandchildren will be disappointed and may not understand.  But, would you rather have them indoctrinated by Disney radicals?”

I’m no Disney expert, but the Mickey Mouse Club was very big on television when I was young, my children played with Disney toys and watched Disney movies and television, and now my grandchildren do the same.  As I said, I’m no expert, but I have had more than 60 years’ experience with Disney.  In all that time I’ve never had even the slightest hint that Disney was trying to “indoctrinate” a child to do anything other than buy Disney products.  Did all of us miss something important or is this just more ridiculous B.S. from politicians?

I think we all know the answer.

The world and Texas are facing real problems involving life and death here and abroad, yet these clownish political figures want to spend their time and our time on foolishness of this sort.  It would be comforting to think that our biggest problems are school librarians and Disney, but that’s not the real world you and I live in.
