Dangerous Detergent

Everyone should know that common household cleaners and chemicals should be kept safely stored away from small children. These products can kill or cause serious injury.

A new product, squishy laundry detergent packets called “pods,” are a threat that is now being recognized. More than 700 children have been hospitalized after ingesting these products. Comas and seizures were among the common complications and at least one child died. 144 had eye injuries, 30 went into a coma, and 12 had seizures.

These detergent products contain concentrated liquid laundry soap. Since products became widely available, over 17,000 poison center calls have been received concerning the products.
